Natural paper can be handmade from a number of different plants, including pineaple, hemp, and other recycle materials.
The process is easy and fun. first, the stocks are soaked and boiled in large oil drums untill the fibers become soft. when the fibers are ready, they are pounded with a foot pestle until the mixture has a paste like consistency. The "paper soup" is then poured into screened frames which sit in square water tubes where the mixture floats and is gently smoothed into and even consistency. once the desired effect has been obtained, natural dye, flowers and other embellishments can be added.
The frame is then lifted from the water, leaving the decorated mixture on the screen where it will dry in the shade for 2 to 3 days. Once the paper has dried it is gently peeled from the screen leaving an interesting textured paper that is durable and beautiful.
